The City of Charlottetown is a flourishing community of over 35,000 people located on the south shore of Prince Edward Island. Charlottetown is the capital city of Prince Edward Island, and is also referred to as the “Birthplace of Confederation” after it hosted the historic 1864 Charlottetown Conference which led to Confederation.
In 1864, Charlottetown hosted a conference of political delegates from around the region and out of that historic event, Canada was born. Today, a visit to Prince Edward Island’s beautiful capital city promises to be just as eventful!
Charlottetown offers all that you are looking for in a meeting and conference destination or for a family holiday. Charlottetown has a rich heritage visible through its magnificent architecture found throughout its historic downtown. Overlooking a scenic natural harbour formed by the junction of three major rivers, it is the commercial, government, educational and cultural centre of the Province.
As an established tourism destination, Charlottetown is a mecca for theatre, festivals and events, art galleries, historical sites, restaurants, shopping and entertainment. Although steeped in history, Charlottetown features thoroughly modern accommodations and convention facilities, and technically superior venues. We’re a city that loves company and we’re proud to offer you our hospitality!
Excitement is in the air with the opening of the new Prince Edward Island Convention Centre!
