The Charlottetown Driving Park first opened it doors for standardbred harness racing October 2, 1889. It’s been an amazing journey that has touched every Island community over the years. Horse racing has been a major part of our island heritage. Visitors from around the world come to Prince Edward Island to experience an island tradition and visit the Kentucky of Canada.
It is one of the most sophisticated centres of its kind in Canada, balancing high quality entertainment with the most advanced responsible gaming features available today. Highlights include the restored, three-tier TOP OF THE PARK Restaurant, a new grandstand, a CASINO featuring over 200 slots and five professional Texas Hold’em and Omaha Poker tables, four newly added Blackjack tables, a teletheatre hosting pari-mutuel betting and enhanced simulcast racing, as well as a tribute to harness racing families and the harness racing history in P.E.I.
Historic Judge’s Stand
The 50,000 sq ft. venue features the original judge’s stand in the centerfield. Historically restored to it’s original 1889 glory, it is a special place to hold corporate receptions, group functions and memory-making events.
This large room is located adjacent to the Top of the Park Restaurant and can accommodate up
to 230 guest Theater style seating. Our newly updated meeting space overlooking our legendary location is equipped with a built-in screen, projector, tinted windows, and pull down blinds. This room can be reserved privately.

Our catering team led by Chef Andrew Smith, is dedicated to providing your group with a dining experience that will leave you wanting more, by using the Island’s freshest and tastiest ingredients. Red Shores is proud to say that our culinary team has won awards for best dessert, and local dish at Food and Wine Savor, as well as best ribs on PEI. We always look at PEI first when it comes to supporting our producers.
